Machynlleth

Machynlleth is a popular market town at the head of the beautiful Dyfi estuary in Mid Wales and has a population of around 2,000. It has an eclectic mix of facilities for visitors, including arts and crafts, a centre for of renewable energy, mountain bike trails, wonderful scenery, plenty of Welsh history and more.

Newtown

The town of Newtown in mid Wales is situated on the banks of the River Severn and dates from the 13th century - in 1279, King Edward I issued a charter allowing Newtown to hold a market on Tuesdays, a tradition that still continues.

Rhayader & the Elan Valley

This small market town situated in mid-Wales is a perfect base for exploring. The name Rhayader or Rhaeadr Gwy in Welsh means 'waterfall on the Wye'.

Welshpool

The town of Welshpool became a borough under the title of Burgus de Pola by charter in 1263. The original borough merely consisted of what was afterwards known as Pool Middle extending to 60 acres the area later being increased to 20,426 acres by a charter granted by Edward de Cherleton, Lord of Powys on 29th June 1406....
